Welcome New Contributors!
We consider ourselves very fortunate indeed to have attracted so
many wonderful talents to our pages over the last few months — people with diverse experience and opinions about manufacturing and the metalworking industries.
In this issue, we are pleased to introduce you to Mr. Steve Krar, a gentleman with 70 years of experience in our industry. No, that is not a typo, I said seventy years! During his long and distinguished career, Krar has worked as a student, teacher, author, consultant, and researcher. On March 19th, the Canadian government recognized him by inducting him into the Canadian Manufacturing Hall of Fame, only the 14th Canadian to be so recognized.
Another new contributor is Bob Goulding, a marketing manager of Seco Tools. Bob has written a stimulating piece on the impact of atomic level changes in new coatings for today's cutting tools.
The influx of contributors from around the industry is one of the most exciting developments in Machining & Tooling. We had always hoped that this publication would become a forum for all kinds of voices in the industry, and it's beginning to happen.
